New Year’s Resolution: We’ll Show You Ours And You Show us Yours

Authors and Readers Share Their New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year!

Here we are again at the cusp of a new year full of new opportunities.  We caught up with some of our favorite authors and Facebook friends to find out what resolution they have for 2012.

Author’s Resolutions

From M. J. Rose– I vow not to read my Amazon or Goodreads Reviews. And I never keep it for more than a few weeks. Lol

Dianna Love’s New Year’s Resolution

“I want a goal I can keep that will benefit others as well as me, so my 2012 resolution is to stop threatening offering to cook…to my husband’s great relief.”

Jade Lee resolves to dance barefoot in the grass at least once a week.  Her goal is to appreciate Mother Nature more.  The problem is that she lives in Illinois and refuses to go out in the snow.  Therefore, in the winter, her goal is to dance barefoot on a green carpet while toasting Mother Nature with her coffee cup.

Amanda McIntyre– Get a nook. Learn how to read on said nook. Embrace the joy of storytelling, take a few more risks, nurture my creative well;)

Anna Destefano– Just posted my “I wills,” and my “I dos,” for 2012 on my blog. Use any of it you think is helpful. 2012 in publishing will be entirely about perspective and moving forward with positive energy, IMHO: http://annawrites.com/blog/2011/12/28/how-we-write-in-2012-the-soul-of-the-matter/

Renee Bernard– It goes without saying that I’d love to simply “write faster” but I also want to read smarter. It’s time to enrich this brain and feed my soul with some great books! (and then write faster…)

Here are some resolutions from our good friends and followers on Facebook!

Loretta Rodgers- ‎1.) Finish something ! 2) Write daily even if it makes no sense and sounds horrible – practice makes perfect. =)

Jan Jordan Douglas- I didn’t have a lot of time for reading 2011 so my New Year’s resolution is to read for at least an hour a day. There were a whole lot of days I didn’t have time to read and that is just NOT acceptable! LOL

Deborah Jiang Stein- My resolution is to make sure I’m a fearless and fierce advocate for reading and writing in every women’s prison where I speak in 2012.

Stacey Burlingame McShane- I am going to read to my baby daughter every night. I hope she develops my passion for reading and writing.

Rita Reynolds Setness- I am going to start my book…..again.

  1. My resolution is to stop allowing myself ‘excuses’ instead of productive writing… a few friends and I have started a facebook writing group to post our successes and challenges and cheer/push each other on… 😀 I think that will be a HUGE help!

  2. I gave up on resolutions years ago.  I would make them in good faith and forget about them within the month.

  3. My resolution is to stop eating chocolate. (Yeah right!)

  4. Less “I have a story idea!” and more writing of the stories (in whatever form).

  5. My New Years resolution is to truly find my happiness. So many things out there that I dream of doing whether it’s working out more, writing more, reading more, traveling more, and all I really want to do is be happy. So my resolution is to stop dreaming and start doing. Something. Every day. I will do something everyday that leads me toward happiness. Maybe we could even finish the year with a BIG move. Who knows?

  6. If I still made resolutions, it would have to be that 1, you know, eat healthier, exercise more etc.

  7. i want to set aside time each day for my writing

  8. To organize my reading time more effectively… and my list of TBR’s. Presently I do it all helter-skelter and make myself crazy. Since it’s all important, I lose track of specific books I want/need to read. There must be a way…

  9. My resolution is to read more, less time on the computer and be more active!

  10. To do more of what I can control (write) and let go of things I can’t (get published); to focus on positive intentions and potential, and to let go of past mistakes, doubts and insecurities.  To cherish all my blessings in 2012.

    Happy New Year, everyone!

  11. I buy so many books that they are completely unorganized.  my new year’s resolution is to get and keep my books organized.  I don’t know how many books I have laying around that I still need to read!  :)

  12. My resolution for New Year’s is to start finding some new authors to read.  I’ve read every single thing by Mary Higgins Clark, Carol Higgins Clark, John Grisham, Debbie Macomber, plus several others.  I am going to go into some new themes and authors to read!

    • For thrillers you might try James Rollins. For something sweet try Lisa Kleypas!

      • love Lisa Kleypas! :o)

  13. I’ve resolved to Be the best that I can be in the New Year.  I’m going to do my best to lose more weight, make my website more popular, work enough to be off for the summer and get paid to do more photo shoots.

    • Leanne watching you achieve so much this past year has been inspiring. I hope to see you succeed this year twice as well as in 2011. I have been given courage and hope in my own weightloss battle by your stunning weightloss.

  14. I vow to read a whole lot in the new year!

  15. I want to read as many non-fiction books as I do fiction this year!! I figure I will improve my mind as well as have pure reading enjoyment

    • I started doing that in 2011 and am really happy I did. I am reading that Steve Jobs book right now. Next up is a book on how to train my dogs. Here is hoping that book works! LOL

  16. I resolve not to make it a resolution but an endeavor–I want to learn how to use all the great programs I have at my fingertips, to make my efforts less time consuming, so I can spend more time doing the writing I love.

    • Shanon I may have to steal your resolution/endeavor! It’s perfect!

  17. My goal for 2012 is to read or listen to at least 100 books….reading them on a Nook Simple Touch would be wonderful!

  18. Be Happy!

  19. I want to eat healthy and and take it easy on caffiene

  20. My resolution is to continue the things that worked in 2011. I started an exercise program in the fall; joined a new church; removed myself from some committees and joined others more aligned with my values; started a new business to support my primary business.

  21. I dont really HAVE a resolution, but I plan to work harder on making myself a better person..I tend to always put others first, this year I want to focus on inner change. Well, ok..some outer weight loss change would be good too ! lol

    Happy New Year !
