Amazon keeps innovating, growing and breaking new “digital” ground, as they announce yet another new feature for their ever growing Kindle — Kindle Library Lending. In a partnership with OverDrive, the eBook provider to libraries, Amazon will bring book borrowing to Kindle owners.

The program will allow Kindle customers to “borrow” books much the same way a library patron would. The books would then expire (be returned) after a set time period. Via their Whispersync technology readers notes would be saved and if they borrow the book again or purchase the title, their notes would be saved for them.

No date has been given for when this program will begin other then “later this year”. Titles from over 11,000 U.S. libraries would be available to Kindle customers.
